Further Maths separates students who are fluent with known methods from students who can attack a problem they have never seen. The second is what STEP tests, and it is teachable.
Problem-solving, not method drilling
An unseen STEP question does not reward a memorised technique. We build the instinct for where to start when nothing obviously applies, which is the whole skill the paper is testing.

Dedicated preparation for the papers Cambridge and Warwick offers depend on, covering the thinking and the stamina a three-hour STEP paper asks for.

The optional modules differ by board and by school, so the first thing we establish is which pair you are entered for. STEP and AEA sit outside the A-Level and are prepared for separately.

Diagnostic
A free 60-minute lesson. Bring a paper or a STEP question you have attempted and we find out whether the gap is content, technique or problem-solving.

A plan with a target
Core pure first where it is shaky, since every optional module leans on it, then the modules and any STEP work sequenced around your dates.

Weekly sessions
Teaching, timed practice and unseen problems, with the balance shifting toward problem-solving as the content settles.

Into the exams
Past paper drilling against the clock, and for STEP candidates, full papers under real conditions well before the summer.
Most students arrive at one of these points.
- Applying to Cambridge, Imperial or Warwick. Where a STEP or MAT grade is part of the offer and the A-Level alone is not enough.
- Strong at Maths, struggling with Further. The step up is real, and it catches out students who found the single A-Level straightforward.
- Stuck on a specific module. Decision and Further Stats in particular are often taught quickly and thinly.
- An A wanting an A*. At this level the difference is usually pace and problem-solving rather than knowledge.
- Self-teaching a module. Some schools cannot staff all of Further Maths, and students are left to cover parts alone.
- Sitting AEA. Rare enough that most schools do not prepare for it at all.
