Where the marks actually go

Check which option you actually sit

Core pure is compulsory everywhere. The rest is chosen by your school, not by you, and the code on the front of your paper is the only reliable way to know which one. Doing a year of the wrong option paper is a mistake students make on their own, never with a tutor.

Induction is a template worth memorising

Base case, assumption, inductive step, and a closing sentence that says what has been proved. Marks are attached to each of those, including the sentence. It is the most reliably scored question on the core pure papers and the one most often thrown away.

Method marks dominate, same as single maths

An answer with no working has nothing for the examiner to attach credit to. On the longer questions most of the marks are for the route, which is why a wrong final answer with clean working still scores well.

The same topics come round every year

Roots of polynomials, series, polar curves, hyperbolic functions, matrix transformations. The contexts change and the techniques do not, so paper practice compounds faster here than almost anywhere else.
