Grade recovery
Most students come to us predicted a grade or two below what they need. We work backwards from the exam date and close the biggest gaps first, because a topic worth eighteen marks matters more than one worth three.
Every ILE tutor sat these exams recently and came away with an A*. They know which questions catch people out, because those questions caught them out first.
Our founder’s own A-Levels
Tahan Islam · Cambridge Medicine · AEA Distinction
A tutor who took your paper two summers ago still remembers which questions were traps, what the mark scheme actually rewarded, and what it feels like to be behind in March. That is harder to teach than the content.

02
The gap between an A and an A* is rarely knowledge. It is usually four or five habits in how answers get written. We find them by marking your work properly, then close them one at a time.
03
Medicine, Oxbridge and anything asking for A*AA needs the grades and an application that survives an interview. Our tutors sat those admissions a year or two ago, and prepare students for both at once.
Every tutor is a current student at a leading university, and teaches only the subjects they took top marks in.

Gabriel
Works with students aiming for Medicine and competitive life-science courses.
Eight A-Level subjects and ten at GCSE, each taught by someone who excelled in it.
Pure, statistics and mechanics in full. Method marks are taught as deliberately as the maths, because that is where most lost marks are.
Complex numbers, matrices and further calculus, plus STEP and AEA for anyone with an Oxbridge offer to meet.
Cell biology, genetics, physiology and ecology. Most of the work goes into the long-answer questions, where Biology grades are won and lost.
Organic mechanisms, physical calculations and inorganic across every board, taught from the examiner’s side of the paper.
The same process for every student, set out in full on our method page.
1
We mark your recent papers against the real scheme. You leave knowing which topics are costing you marks, and roughly how many.
2
A session-by-session curriculum built around those gaps, your board and the weeks you have left. Whatever is worth most gets covered first.
3
1-to-1 work, timed practice and written feedback. Progress is logged every session, and if something is not landing the plan gets rewritten.
Grades sat by ILE students, published with permission. The full set is on our results page.
